How do you think your project turned out?
Exceeds Expectations
What did you learn about yourself in completing this project?
Over the course of this project, I learned that I’m fairly good at finding efficient ways of of completing a project that looks interesting. I did this by implementing my “engineering” portion with materials I could easily manipulate with what I wanted to do. In my project, I did this by simply using a paper clip that I poked through the cardboard, and spiraled on both sides. This allowed me to hot-glue on the base of the “solar-system” pictures I was going to have spin.
What strengths did this project highlight for you? In what areas did this project push?
I definitely tried something I thought was different in this project. I decided not to make just a simple box or shape. I wanted mine to actually have some significance and not just do what was expected. So to answer the question, my design highlighted my strength of creativity of this project. I feel like I wasn’t particularly challenged in any way besides trying to get the pieces of the vision board to stay together.
What level of personal effort do you feel you put into your project?
I did spend a lot of time fixing it at home. To be honest, my cat smashed the original to bits, and the first layer of the background I put on it looked horrible. So, I reinforced the bars connecting the planets to the sun with strong wooden skewers, and I reinforced the tape with actual hot glue. I completely covered the cardboard with white paint to make it look more finished. I also printed out space pictures and taped those neatly to the back so the background didn’t look horrendous.
How effectively and thoughtfully did you integrate a 3D element into your vision board design?
My 3D element actually does have a meaning. Because it is my vision board and revolves around my future, I made myself, the sun, the center of the board. My future goals were scattered as planets around me as what I wanted to make my “solar system” of a life to look like. I feel like I was able to do this quite effectively and simply. Just a paper clip, some hot glue (originally tape), and cardboard and it worked quite well and exactly as I had planned it to work.
